Check if I need a letter of free sale

Understand whether you need a letter of free sale, and who can issue it.

Check the importing country's requirements

A letter of free sale is used to support product registration in the importing country prior to the product being exported.

Before you apply for a letter of free sale, check the importing country's requirements for your product. Contact the importer or the relevant authority and ask if your product needs a letter of free sale.

Confirm who must issue the letter of free sale

Some countries require a letter of free sale from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, while others will accept one from a Chamber of Commerce.

One application per country

Submit a separate application for each importing country. Requirements can vary between countries, so include the specific requirements for the country where the product will be registered or exported.
