What you'll need before starting your application
The kinds of documentation you need, depends on whether your product is sold in Australia.
All letter of free sale applications
Check that all documents are complete and up to date before you apply. Missing information or supporting evidence may delay the assessment of your application.
All applications need this information:
- Documentation showing the importing country requires a letter of free sale from Australia’s competent authority. We’ll need an accurate translation if the document is not in English.
- A copy of product label.
Available for sale in Australia
If the product is freely available for sale in the Australian domestic market and eligible for export, you will also need to provide the following.
- Manufacturer’s declaration that includes:
- product name (as written on the product label)
- product description
- manufacturing establishment name
- manufacturing establishment address
- if available or applicable, department establishment number, and:
- a statement that outlines the product is freely available for sale in the Australian domestic market and eligible for export.
- Evidence supporting the manufacturer’s declaration that the product is available in Australia, such as:
- sales invoice from the manufacturing company to a buyer (for example a wholesaler)
- Word or PDF document with screenshots of an Australian retail website where the product is offered for sale. This document can also include website links.
Not available for sale in Australia
If the product is not yet available for sale and is in development for launch, you'll need to provide the following.
- A statutory declaration that includes:
- product name (as written on the product label)
- product description
- manufacturing establishment name
- manufacturing establishment address
- if available or applicable, department establishment number, and
- a statement that outlines: if the product is not yet available for sale and is in development for launch, when the product will be available in Australia and the destination market.
