Changes to terminology in PEMS

Some of the terms we use in PEMS have changed. Learn what the new terms mean.

The Plant Export Management System (PEMS) will soon connect with the Next Export Documentation system (NEXDOC). NEXDOC will replace the current Export Documentation system (EXDOC).

In preparation for this, some terms used in PEMS have changed to be consistent with terms used in NEXDOC.

Request for Export (REX)

Requests for Permit (RFPs) are now called Requests for Export (REXs) in PEMS.

You will be able to view REXs in PEMS and upload supporting documents after inspections.

You can still search for RFPs using the RFP number.

Client group

An EDI number will be replaced by a Client Group ID when the transition to NEXDOC occurs. EDI (Electronic Data Interface) users are people who access EXDOC through third-party software.

PEMS

If you have an EDI Executive profile in PEMS, you will see this changed to a Client Group Executive profile in PEMS.

For example, if you are an EDI Executive for EDI 123456, this will now display as Client Group Executive for Client Group CGCE98765. The EDI you have this profile for will be needed to register a Client Group in NEXDOC. We will then map this new credential to your existing PEMS profile.
