Using an authenticator app for email sign-in

How to set up an authenticator app so you can use email sign-in for your TradeClear account.

Why you need an authenticator app

You can create a TradeClear account using email sign-in instead of Digital ID. To do this you’ll need to use multi-factor authentication (MFA).

This means you’ll need an authenticator app on your phone.

What is an authenticator app?

An authenticator app is a form of MFA that generates temporary passcodes. These provide added security and help make sure other people can’t sign in instead of you.

Examples of authenticator apps include Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator. Others are available too.

How to get an authenticator app

On your phone, follow the steps:

  1. Select the App Store (on an iPhone) or Google Play (on an Android phone).
  2. Search for an authenticator app such as Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator or another of your choice.
  3. Install the app on your phone.

How to add TradeClear to your authenticator app

On your phone, follow the steps:

  1. Open your authenticator app.
  2. Select the plus sign.
  3. Follow the steps in the app to add your TradeClear account details. (Each app will have different steps to follow.)

Your TradeClear account will show in the authenticator app.You can then use the app when you sign in to TradeClear.
